Adei-Wizo is a voluntary all women association with non-profit status, working in Italy for over 70 years and having 20 sections with about 3.000 members
We are one of Wizo’s 50 federations. As you might know Wizo is Israel’s major organization in field of social work. Adei-Wizo activities range from social initiatives to cultural trips in search of Jewish roots, to Jewish history and traditions and a variety of publications.
The Adei-Wizo literary prize was started a few years ago to make the Jewish world better known to the wider public.
Particular attention is devoted to the study and witness of Shoah.
Adei-Wizo organizes courses on Israel history and Middle East conflict, sponsoring information and counter-information initiatives in various media.
Donations received by Adei-Wizo are all devolved to charitable ends: partly to Jewish and non-Jewish Italian institutions, such as schools, hospital psychiatric units, well woman centres, cancer research, Italian red cross and others.
Parts of the funds goes to Wizo in Israel. Wizo is engaged in establishing kinder gartens, schools, woman and elderly people centres, battered women homes and maladjusted teenagers. Wizo is in the front line to help people suffering from psychological and financial stress.
